I have removed the fairing and tank on my k1300GT, looking down at the tank it appears the female QC has been araldited to the tank base. I would like to install the metal QC's that are recommended. The current glued connector is solid and I'm wondering if I can get it off without damaging the base of the tank, which I think is metal ?
Any advice appreciated.

Honestly, if it's not leaking, then leave it alone.

The male plastic connector can break because the plastic is too thin at a certain point, so it's worth replacing with the metal one. But unless you screw in the female too tightly to the fuel pump base plate (tapered threads), then it'll be fine.

Note that the fuel pump base plate has been known to crack and leak (which is probably why they tried to seal it externally), but the only fix to that is a whole new fuel pump assembly for $465.

Its plastic not metal. If it was marginal or cracked I would not trust a bodge like this.
But the last person in this may have laid on the resin to prevent a crack in the part by reinforcing it.
I can't tell if one is able to detach the pump itself and insert into a salvaged assembly whose pump has died.
Some off the shelf metal fuel line parts brass etc might be insertable if you were to flush cut the resin daubed bit and could through-fit a threaded fitting.
But the other side may well be fused together preventing access.

Check the number of models that take this assembly and troll ebay you might get lucky.

Thinking leave it alone, it's solid and as you say the base may have cracked, there is one on ebay that is cracked so quite possibly why this is araldited. It's very solid.

I second the leave it alone advice. I have repaired one (friends bike), installing a metal female quick connect. I strengthened the boss with a collar. But I did this because it already was leaking. My own, I left alone because it wasn't leaking. I have replaced, as Beech said, the male quick connect with a metal one. This is an easier proceedure. Just don't cut the old one off, there isn't much leeway on the fuel line.
If your female one is sound, and by looking at the pictures, it looks like they did a robust job with araldite, then I'd leave it be.

check to see if there is a recall for a free pump - many BMs fractured around the point your's is glued - my GS got a free pump for this exact reason - didn't spot anything for the GT when I look - good luck

My fuel pump has been replaced under warranty two years ago. It had a crack too. It's a recall anyway, so maybe check if you can get it replaced at your local dealership.
