I have a dilemma: I'm going on a very long ride soon, and plan to take my BMW side cases, BMW tank bag, and Corbin saddle + Smuggler. I could take off the Smuggler and put on the Corbin rear saddle, but IMHO that ruins the "sport look" of the bike and deprives me of the Smuggler's storage. It does, however, give me the option of putting something like a Wunderlich or other brand seat bag for extra storage.

That got me wondering if anybody out there makes a rear seat bag that has a soft enough bottom that I could put it on top of the Smuggler and not worry about it scratching due to vibration, etc... Of course I'd be sure to clean everything before putting it on so that there is no grit in between that could cause damage.

Does anyone have any suggestion for a solution to this dilemma that will allow me to use the Corbin front saddle (I will not use the stock seat for a cross country trip), the Corbin Smuggler, and a top-case/rear seat-bag of some kind? Is there perhaps some sort of luggage rack that I can install (has to be removable after the trip, of course) on top of which I can put a top-case or bag? That would prevent any likelihood of contact damage to the top of the Smuggler.

Thanks in advance!

Check these out for use with the smuggler. I'm faced with the same issue and have found these options.

Sears makes a tool box drawer liner that is a perforated rubber foam. I have used them in the past and they absolutely would prevent any abrasion to the smuggler.
