This feels like a silly question but I have looked everywhere for the answer and haven't found it. I'd like to remove the plastic breather cap on the transmission. the same one is used on the final drive. On both, the instructions just say, "remove the cap".

I am just trying to remove it so that I can clean the area better and seal the hole better to not risk getting any engine cleaner in there. I could just pull it off but something is holding in on there and I would probably just leave it alone if there is a risk of breaking off pieces of plastic that might fall down the hole.

Anyone ever removed one of these caps?

It should be snapped on there....just pry it off with a screw driver...there should also be a little filter element uder that plastic cap.

Correct Answer. It popped right off. Though there was not a filter on mine.

I've broken enough parts that it was great to have somebody confirm before trying to remove it. Thank you.
