Howdy!

I've put on an autumn ride up the coast to Fort Bragg for the past few years on the BMWLT site. I know there is quite a bit of cross-over between these two groups so I want to extend the invitation to all the folks here at K-Bikes as well.

Link to thread on BMWLT.com - http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38265

Dates: Saturday & Sunday, October 4-5

Hotel:

Travelodge (same location as past years, just part of the chain now)
763 N Main St
Fort Bragg, CA 95437
707-964-4787

We have a block of 30 rooms, including -

17 - 2 double beds at $79
10 - 1 King bed at $65
2 - 2 bedroom mini-suites (2 separate bedrooms with 1 bed in each) with a sitting area at $ $89
1 - Family Suite, 2 bedrooms, 1 with 2 doubles and 1 with 1 double, at $94

Reservations can be made starting today. Tell the desk agent you are with the David Taylor Party to get these rates. The cutoff for getting rooms in our block is September 3rd. After that the block will be released and go back to their normal rates.

Lunch:

Tony's Seafood Restaurant
18863 Highway 1
Marshall, CA;
415-663-1107

We'll meet here for lunch at 11:30 a.m. They will open early to seat us so we don't have to wrestle with the regular lunch crowd. Best BBQ'd oysters anywhere, I swear!

Dinner:

North Coast Brewery Tap Room, 6:30 p.m.

We may have a special menu for the group if we get enough people, but otherwise we'll just be able to order off the regular menu. They've added some more beef selections and are getting their steaks from Brandt Beef (not that the previous steaks were slouches, great prime rib!), which produces some very high quality meats. I'll post an update later once we have a headcount and I finalize things with the restaurant.

And yes, they still have all the fantastic beer you could want!

Rides To and From:

Everyone pretty much does their own thing going and coming. Some folks get together and ride up and/or back, but this isn't an organized group ride where we all meet and go together in a big gaggle. This gives folks the flexibility to choose routes, stops, etc., and ride at their own pace, which keeps everyone safe and happy. Basically you know when and where lunch is, and when and where dinner is, and the riding part you get to choose and enjoy as you see fit! I'll be happy to post a Garmin file with the various stops and even some suggested routes if folks would like some suggestions. Just let me know.

That's all the news that fits for now. I'll start an attendee list on the thread on www.bmwlt.com (link to thread included above), so please add your name there (and your guests of bringing others), or post or PM me here and I will add it. This way I can give the restaurants a final headcount as we get closer to the weekend. We've had a lot of fun on this ride every year, let's keep up the good times!

I hope to see you all there!!

Hi Ray - Great running into you at MotoGP! They do still have the Old Stock, my buddy Rob was sampling that and had no complaints (not that you can complain after drinking that :D ). I'll add you to the attendee list I'm tracking on the LT site. Glad you can make it!

I finished all the details with the restaurant today so we are good to go for Fort Bragg!! If you've gone before you know the routine, but here it is again just so we all know -

Saturday Oct. 4 -

RIDE!!

Lunch:

Tony's Seafood Restaurant
18863 Highway 1
Marshall, CA;
415-663-1107

We'll meet here for lunch at 11:30. They'll let us in early to beat thelunch crowd and get first dibs on BBQ'd oysters!

Dinner:

North Coast Brewery Tap Room
Main St.
Fort Bragg, CA

Dinner is at 6:30 p.m., but drinking a beer or two can start anytime after you get there. We have tables in the banquet room in the back and they'll serve us off the regular menu (no special dinner menu, which I kinda perfer). They have a new beef supplier and more steaks on the menu, so the carnivores in the crowd should be pleased.

In between we get to ride some of the most fun road known to man - the Pacific Coast Highway!

Are we there yet???

You guys need to come out west and see what we get to ride out here!

Ray was in town this weekend for the Reno Air Races. More Air Race photos at: http://rhhall.smugmug.com/gallery/5981955_FErvt#373503153_E7e4r

We had breakfast in Carson City, before continuing north to Reno:

At the races, we checked out the static display. Here's Ray standing next to the aggressor F-5 Tiger II.

He was checking out the Jelly Belly bike. I was trying to figure out what flavor he was; I decided on Blueberry:

Ain't nothing between you and Fort Bragg but air and opportunity! Work, family, daughter having a baby, etc., that's SO unimportant compared to us!!! :D

You'd best put Cambria on the calendar right now, though!

Rich - How were the air races? I went last year and had a great time.

Riding up from San Jose BMW if anyone wants to tag along

I'm meeting a few folks at San Jose BMW the morning of the 4th to ride up to Tony's for lunch then on to Fort Bragg. Freeway to San Francisco but scenic twisties after that. If anyone wants to join me meet at SanJose BMW at 9 a.m. the morning of the 4th and we'll pull out at 9:30. Chris (the owner) should have some coffee and donuts around for us.

If you want to come along post here so I know to look for you!
