What was with the old R1100RS or R1150RS the police were riding?Do they keep old bikes for ceremonial occasions?
Our state police ride R1200RT's and sell them at very low km's.

I think their mentality is to go with machines the've tried and proven. Bearing in mind they use a lot of horses for the same reason!

It would be a bit naff if a smart new machine looked modern but let the rider down half way down the Mall. Actually for the speed, distance they go and the ceremonial occasion they could probably use an Eco bike with an electric motor. That is until a bad guy on a faster bike with a pillion carrying Kalashnikov breaks through the cordon and needs to be chased.

The cars are pretty old so old bikes go well and not many probably notice anyway.

Im not sure Andrew but I think those older vehicles are owned and maintained by the Queens Guard not the police. They use current RT's.
The royal garage would have nothing to do all day but polish baked enamel duco and tune Rolls Royce engines.
Did you see that pristine 1960's Aston Martin that they drove that belongs to Charlie? Stunning!
Pippa's arse was pretty special too, sorry, Her Royal Hotness!!
