Good so far. I judge the site by the contributions of the individual posters. I have been on the LT site for years and donated to them yearly. Probably over $200 to date. I never mind donating, because I know the costs and the personal amount of time it takes to maintain and support such a site, and I REALLY don't envy those guys. But like I said, the site is just a vehicle for each rider to connect with each other in an easy way, and I have little use or interest in the recent politics.

There are other options.

Hey, I'm new to this site, but I had pretty much disappeared from i-bmw. This place has sparked my interest, and I think the interest of some of my buds who had also decided that VICs site was a place of diminishing returns. So I'm glad you're here.

My .02

I personally am excited about the new site and fresh perspectives.....One thing that really gets me going is that none of my numerous donations and money raising, ( radar detector proceeds) went to the old site. I will be more cautious in the future........Good Luck guys

I will say that your donations to this site will support this site. We purposely set up some checks and balances so that several people can keep an eye on the support income. To deploy and operate a site like this doesn't come without a price, but a very small amount from all of the active participants is all it takes. If more donations are taken in than actually needed to operate this site, your very capable Administrators will be challenged to give it back to the community, either in site improvements or other yet to be determined ways.

We are also working on added value features to give to all of our supporters.

I'm glad the site is here. The new look is great. And I see the old feeling of "community" that I enjoyed for several years on the old site beginning to warm up here too. I'm pleased that much of the old site is archived here. An invaluable source of information and experience. I'll be around here to watch this one grow too.

If you scroll to the bottom of the main forum page and take a look at all the people logging in each day, you might notice the different colors. The different colors denote the levels of donations people have made to the site. As Randy stated, there are controls that have been put in place to make sure the dollars you donate go directly to the operation of the site. We invite you to click on the Donate link on the bottom of the page. Or, if you would rather take a wait and see approach, we completely respect and understand.

We have 4 levels of donations. BASIC, STANDARD, GOLD, and PLATINUM. Donors at the GOLD and PLATINUM level get the added feature of customizing their user title. We plan on adding other useful exclusive features for our member donors in the future.

We also have added a VENDOR category for our supporting vendors. STANDARD Vendors can promote their products and answer questions in the vendor forum. PREMIUM Vendors will get their own exclusive subforum with their logo in which to promote their products and answer questions.

We started feeling the "age" of the UBBThreads implementation about a year ago. While this platform was able to take us out of the days of chaos, hijacked usernames, and connection timeouts of the old Lotus Notes based system, it had also become dated and subject to attacks by hackers and script kiddies. After a long and detailed review of the available software, we chose vBulletin to move forward. Aside from offering the widest range of features, it is also the platform used by 3 of the 5 largest BMW communities.

I am also happy to see the "old timers" and "originals" returning to the site after being away for so long. There are a few names and writing styles I haven't seen in quite some time returning to the site. I commend Tim and the gang for returning the community spirit that brought so many of us together over the years. I think CABNFVR, LOCUS, htheater, and PeteA deserve a big "THANK YOU" for the hard work and tough decisions made over the past few weeks.

While I miss the old site I really do want to thank CABNFVR, LOCUS, htheater, and PeteA for making the tough decision to save us souls from being cast into the sea. It is indeed a fine ship and it's great to see everyone coming aboard.

Confused

I voted the last option as a knee jerk reaction to being confused about how to find and navigate this new site.

Plus, I know nothing of the politics, machinations, technical issues, or other problems associated with Vic's site, so without that information I am even more bewildered.

Having spent a few minutes with the site, though, it does look like it is pretty good.

I provided modest $ support to the old site, and I'll do the same here (assuming you won't cancel my account because of my vote)

Nice Work!!

I have to admit... I love the look of this site.. It's not only visually impressive, but relatively easy to navigate... I only wish there was more nudity.. Preferably female.

Keep up the good work fellas..

I'm new to this site. Joined just about the same time I-BMW went away. Didn't know much about I-BMW either, so it made no difference to me.

From viewing some of the users sign in date, looks like this site started couple years back or so...

Anyway great place to be. Glad to be here and stay.

Thanks to Razel!

Razel, hope you get some referral brownie points:D

Nice new site - but, it appears that a bunch of folks have been lost in the shuffle - seems to me that the number of posts and participants is much lower than it used to be - ultimately, I think the value of any forum is based on the number of people participating and contributing to the discussion. So far, seems a bit disappointing.
