Speed cameras

I have tried a few radar detectors over the years and they no not work very well with the cameras. Two reasons main one is that half the time the radar is illuminating you rear.Second reason is they have low power.Radar detectors work very well with the mobile doppler compensating units.
Best bet is to stick to limit if on major roads highways etc and upp the ante when on back roads !

Get a radar detector. Cops love em. They confiscate them, turn them into radar detector detectors, fit them in police cars plus give you a $2000 fine. Incidently if you get flashed on the Hume it may not mean you are getting a ticket. They are time over distance also. Friend got flashed at 102, no big deal.

Hume

If you are speeding up the Hume you must be crazy or love paying extra taxes.Just out of interest Garmin the GPS company have a web site for sharing bike trips.Noted that one rider had maxed out at 200Kph on the Western highway to Adelaide.
Love them, more taxes they pay the less I have to coff up to that dragon Julia and her mates in Spring st.

Well yes you can use a radar detector and it will work with the doppler compensating radars. These are the units that they mount on the patrol cars and usually work around 24GHz.Radar detectors work VERY well against them, you will usually have the detector jumping off the dash before you see the police car.The best detector to get is the Bell STI because of its design it is not detectable by a radar detector detector.
It would also be a VERY good idea to have the detector hidden. As Papilo stated they love catching people with them and the fine is very high.
To be honest the best idea is te keep your eyes open and don't speed on the high traffic roads !
