Older K bikes (prior to the K1200, but I don't recall what year it was no longer necessary) needed this spline lube. With a 98, you're fine, don't worry about it. Just for reference, though, I had a 1991 K75, and it was part of the routine maintenance.

driveline lube

I have a related question. Is there any regular maintenance to the driveline (other than gear oil change) to be done on a late model (98-04) K1200RS/GT?
