I have the initial plans in place for Ride to Cambria I set up every year. I've copied the initial post here, and have included a link to the thread on BMWLT.com where the attendee list and updates will be posted.

I hope you can join us!

I have the initial plans in place for the 2010 Ride to Cambria! The dates this year will be Saturday and Sunday, May 8th & 9th. I've worked out arrangements for lodging with the BlueBird Inn, our normal haunt. And since it was such a hit last year I've also confirmed dinner at Linn's Restaurant again for 2010.

Here are the details I have so far -

Lodging - The BlueBird Inn - 800-552-5434
http://www.bluebirdmotel.com/

To make reservations for Saturday night, 5/8, please call the BlueBird and tell them you are with the David Taylor BMW Group. They have a variety of room choices and have given us the following pricing -
  • Standard Room, One Queen Bed - $88
  • Standard Room, Two Double Beds - $110
  • Standard Room, One King Bed - $110
  • Standard Room, Two Queen Beds - $120
  • Deluxe Room, One King - $150 (these have garden and creek views, balconies or patios, and fireplaces)
  • Deluxe Room, Two Queens - $160 (these have garden and creek views, balconies or patios, and fireplaces)
  • Deluxe Suites - One King Bed - $180 (Has separate living room, creek and garden view, fireplace, etc.)
They are taking reservations now, so feel free to sign up! The cut-off date for the rooms and rates will be April 10th. After that any remaining rooms will be made available to the public and go back to regular price.

Dinner - Linn's
http://www.linnsfruitbin.com/

I'll be working with Linn's in the upcoming months to finalize the menu, dinner time, etc. Keep an eye on this thread for updates, and I'll post links in the regional forums as well.

Once you get your room reserved please add your name to the attendee list on this thread so I can get a headcount for dinner.

I'm really looking forward to the ride and seeing all of you again, and hopefully meeting some new folks as well! We've had great fun on this ride over the years so come on out and join us for a good ride and good times!

I hope to see you there!

1 month left for rooms

The cut-off to book rooms for the Cambria ride is April 10, so if you want to go you should get one booked soon. We have about 35 folks signed up so far including a couple of folks coming in from Texas (Dave Moore) and Ohio (Joe Paulsey). All the info is above.

I hope you can join us!

Room booked. They are out of single queen beds.
Awesome! I'll put you on the list. Are you coming to the Bay Area on Friday? Dave Moore is coming in from Texas and Joe Paulsey is flying in from Ohio. we'll get the usual y crowd together for dinner at The Duke Friday night, then normal gathering and ride out on Saturday.

Yep, should be there Friday ... what was the hotel next to the Duke? IIRC, it was a Marrott Courtyard?

Yeah, that and a Hilton Garden Inn as well IIRC. I think Dave is staying at the Marriott.

You flying solo or bringing the little woman along?

Hey David.

Looks like the So & I will also be attending the weekend bash so please add our name to the list for [email protected] Duke and some Texas grubbin 2. Then on to Cambria...Will have to make for a sleeping place for Friday maybe Mariot or someplace close by.

Looking forward to seeing you again, been a while since Ft. Bragg...

Saw your post on the LT site, so you're on! I'm finalizing plans for dinner Saturday, Friday stuff, etc., so I'll post here and on the LT site once I have all that worked out. Should only be a few more days.

Ride, Dinner and Other Updates

A quick update on the Cambria Ride -

Friday Night Pre-Ride Festivities -

Since a number of folks (Dave Moore, Joe Paulsey, Rich Hall, others) are converging on the San Jose Area Friday evening a group of folks will be meeting at The Duke of Edinburgh in Cupertino for dinner and libations. It's right off I-280 and Wolfe Rd. exit. This happens almost every year so I guess it's no surprise.
We'll meet there at 6 p.m., and usually take over a bunch of tables in the back. Anyone is welcome to join us, so feel free to stop by! Here's a link to The Duke with address, number, etc.

Saturday Ride from San Jose to Cambria -

Pretty much the same as last year. We'll meet up at the Starbucks at 125 Bernal Rd in San Jose. This is easy to get to from 101 or 85 to the Bernal Rd exit on the south end of San Jose. Meet time is between 9:30 and we'll leave at 10 a.m. There is a gas station in the shopping center with Starbucks so everyone can top off when they get there. We'll take backroads over the Santa Cruz mountains and down to Castroville to Central Texan BBQ for lunch. After that it's Highway 1 and 120 miles of some of the most beautiful and fun roads to be found in the USA!

I did make a run down the coast to Cambria a few weeks back and there are some spots with road construction and short delays. Not uncommon after a heavy rainy season like we had this year, so just be aware and pay attention to road signs and surface conditions.

And as I remind folks every year, please ride your own ride at your own pace. This isn't really an organized group ride and the way I'm going is one of a number of ways to get there. For the folks that want to come along you're more than welcome, and I'll wait for everyone to gather up at the major intersections or cross roads so people don't get lost. The main point is to have fun and get there safely.

Dinner In Cambria -

Aaron Linn is preparing a special menu for us again this year, and knowing him it's a sure bet to be tasty! Dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. and our group will have the entire upstairs area at Linn's. There should be ample time for folks to hang out, chat, check out the town, etc. between arrival at the BlueBird Inn and dinner time, so don't feel rushed. You're on vacation, remember!

That's about it for now. I'll post updates when I have some.

Cambria Ride - Bonus

An added bonus for the Cambria ride - Thanks to a last minute change in plans Ken Meese will be able to join us this year, and has offered to give his IBR talk and Q&A for our group! We'll do this on the patio at the BlueBird from 5:30 to 6:30, so that should avoid conflicts with any ride plans and still give Gilles enough time to do his make-up before dinner. :D

Ken - I'm happy you can join us again this year, and thanks for offering to do the IBR talk!!

Excellent, looking forward to seeing Ken, as the last time I saw him at Cambria, I was choking back a hangover....

Dave,

Any chance you give a talk on how to do a "brakee", or whatever you call it?
