Boys and Girls,

The new Gt looks like it got a savage beating with the "Ugly", mostly because the panels responsible for the look are cheaper to produce. I'm not talking about the color either. I noticed the new S when it first came out last year had thinner and smaller panels and what appears to the eye to be more of them.

It's expensive to produce a single panel with curves (that have eye appeal). It's cheaper to "stitch" together small angular panels. But that, unfortunately creates frequent disruptions of flowing lines, or the "Ugly" effect. Every time you disrupt a smooth flowing, symmetrical line, you get major "UGLY".

Look at any successful automobile design of the past century. For that matter look at the classic motorcycle designs past and present. Chopping up smooth lines does not work, at least not for the majority of critical eyes.

Saw it yesterday at the Chicago show. Over all better bike than my currant GT. But, still don't like the looks. Talked with a corporate type for over a half hour getting my opinion.

He asked, my wife if she like the color? it was the off white. She told him it reminded her of a refrigerator!

the refrigerator

I pre ordered one of the first to be delivered in New England refrigerators from Ford. It was actually called an "Expedition", but in white looked just like a huge refrigerator. It didn't fit in my garage and the brakes locked up frequently, among other problems. I got rid of it, quickly.
