Riding season will be coming to a end here in the next few months for me (yes i know some of you will ride all year long, blah blah blah but that cant happen with my bike and snow so ZIP IT!! :snowlaff: )

I am starting my normal end of the year tire research to see what i will buy in the off season for next years season. So just some rider info, i am 5'6 180lbs, i ride a 2008 K1200R. I am a pretty agressive rider, and by that i mean that i ride in leathers and yes i replace knee sliders during the season, but i am not by any means a short distance rider. I would say on average i ride about 2k a month.

Right now i have the Pilot Road 2's on my bike. I have ridden Continental in the past and i will say that I LOVE their stickyness but HATE HATE HATE that they wear before 5k with everyday riding. So i would like to hear form you all who have rode the Pilot 3's or Avon or hell anything else and what you might rec for next riding season.

May the tire battle begin!

Tires Again

It seems that conversations about tires is kind of like oil, politics and the weather, that is, we all have different ideas, expectations and requirements that result in a wide variety of responses. Over the past 20 years I have averaged 2 - 3 sets of tires per year and have tried each new model that hists the street
My riding is mainly in the hills/mountains around southern California, Nevada and Utah so I prefer a dual compound tire that provides good feedback and stability for the various weather and road changes experienced. I was never completely happy with my tire selections due to either short life, handling, adhesion, sound or predictability. However, this changed with the installation of the Michelin PR-3. Currently, I have almost 8,200 miles on them and expect they will last to 10k. I am stoked. O course this is only my opinion. I am sure multiple others will follow.
