That you Daren? Looks like your pic on your GPS was a little more...this I beleive, I knows what I saw indicated at 162 'indicated' with the Rs I seen and stated. No BS.
I was able to reach a top speed of 175mph (still in the memory of my GPSP)
I did it when you get out the curvy roads coming from Julian, CA into the desert. There is this asphalt highway, going downhill and I had no wind that day. Placed myself in a aerodynamic position and pulled the throttle for a a minute or so.
I know that road. Turn south on S2 there and you'll find the jeep trail that heads to little blair valley and the monthly star party (geekville, I love it). I've been there many times and it seems like a natural place to hit the throttle. I even go fast there in my truck filled with telescopes. I think the next time I say "Wonder where I'll ride to today" I'll think of this road.
Funny, the last few times I've ridden it on the bike I was coming back up the hill. I think it's time to do the loop clockwise.
I hit the red line on my RS in 6th a couple of years ago on a very long downhill straight in Argyll just before Ardkinglas. It was a clear and cold winter's morning very early and there was absolutely no one around - I had my panniers and tank bag on as well. I can't remember what the speedo said (I think 170ish) so it was probably about 10% less than that. I can't say I want to repeat it as it is (a) difficult to find an empty road and (b) I was worried at the time about deer coming off the hill and accross the road. However that morning the conditions were perfect. The bike was perfectly stable.
Top Speed K1200GT, i drive before 153,5 mph (GPS indicated)
Top Speed K1200S, i drive now 175 mph (GPS indicated, the speed at the limiter in the 6. gear) all driven allowed on german Autobahn, 10 miles away from me.
do you guys getting over 160 on your bikes have chips that disengage the speed limiter? I notice the bike just won't get to the red line in 6th. I know it has more go, but it just won't go.

Yes Mike. As mention in my post Laser gives another 700 RPM to the limiter. I still bounce off 9700 RPM but not as often as I did when it was limited at 9000 RPM. I sounds and feels more natural with the 2Brothers that the limiter is extended that much more. In 6th I did got it up close to 9400 RPM showing an indicated 162 MPH on the speedo. I think that the added hole in the airbox that the Laser chip instructed me to put there helped accomplish this along with the open exhaust. No BS bud.
VA, I 95, heading to work jocking around with a Susuki. I didn't even realize it. I thought I was doing maybe 105-110 max. She rides so smooth, which can be a problem when you pass a smokey.
