I got almost 160 mph (255 kmh), with lowered fairing. We was using clock to measure between two known points.
On the secon run we got less. The bike had total 17 000 km on clock. Temp was +10 c.
There was no more to get from this bike, but who cares. It was rather fast anyway.
The most remarkabel thing, was that there was absolute no wind or windnoice behind the fairing. The bike was rock steady.
On a motorway, I think I could keept this speed for some time. I have been driving this bike with full luggage and a passanger at 120 mph on a motorway. This was just like nothing. The bike performed 100%.
Impressiv.
I tried the same stunt with a Pan. It is not to be recomended.
Last week on Hwy 87 east of Phx AZ I was riding with my wife, she on her '04 RS and me on my '04 1150GS cruising at about 90mph, a 500 Mercedes Coupe slowly passes us and she decides to hang with him. She says they were up to 140, I couldn't tell my GS maxed out at 120. She has done 140 several times. She loves her RS. She is 5'7" 115lbs and I am sure that bike with her on it will pass airplanes. I hope she keeps it under 140.

I regularly do 130 in my "safe spot". I've been up to 140 with just some heavy helmet buffeting. The bike was rock solid and plenty of power to spare. My wife and I have done 130 with the panniers loaded with groceries. Then I thought about the kids being orphaned and have restrained myself considerably since.
Here, for your entertainment and some instigated excitement toward this new K site.
OK, lots of 'Bullshit' flying around on this thread..especially the ones who are claiming that they're reaching "160+" MPH at normal redline (9000 RPM). So.. Oh boy, do I have a challenge for you B-Shit Master(s)!
Here it is:
At 'ANY' of the up coming 2006 Rallies that are scheduled on THIS site..you can BRING IT ON!
I will find a decent straight stretch of road at any of these Rallies for 'one-any' designated rider...someone like Tim Hudspeth aka: CABNFVR, or any admin. who will be able to attend 'the' specified Rally..to test of these bike's TOP END.
Oh, this isn't for 'free'! I have $500 saying that you won't even come close to my modified RS's top end as stated in my posts.
Green backs are due the day of runs. Also, $100 will go to the designated rider for his/her trouble..from whoever's bike 'looses'.
OK? Put up..or STFU! I say that because I know..
Any or all stock-bike takers welcome. Bikes: Any Stock RS/GT made, up to 2005.
One more thing..I need to know at least one month in advance as to which Rally we're going to do this at.
Wanna play now? I'll be there with my 'Red' bike..
Does this mean you're going to make the trip out west to THCR???
Must see Bear ride the Texas Holy Trinity (the Texas 3's - HW 337, 336, and 335). Must videotape multiple high speed flybys. Must see the naysayers eat their words.

You would have a ball in Texas. Start making plans. And while I do not wish to be a party to public highway speed trials, I will shamelessly watch the video later.
NO NO NO, that road simply won't do, CABNFVR! I don't wish 'my' K with another rider to be airborne at THAT speed for the length between each of the crests in the road!! lol
Not to say that K doesn't handle airborne feats well, with much grace, but THAT distance would be a little nerve racking..
Ps. Tim, I understand about the liability factor so I wouldn't hardly consider you a shameless person.

My 04 with Remus exhaust will do 160MPH with the lugage bags on. It pulls strong to about 145.
Without the bags it will pull strong all the way to the rev limiter 160 MPH. At 160 I don't try to look at the speedo, so about 160.
My 02 with stock exhaust could only do 155 MPH with bags on.
You need at lot of realestate and empty road for this kind of speed.

120 is as fast as I've ever been on the K. That was with the "comfort" windscreen, System Cases and the soft bag on the rack. Obviously, there was a lot left. Up to 100mph I'm pretty comfortable and I don't feel much differently than if when the speedo says 65mph. But after 100, the sensation of speed seems to build at a faster rate for me.
