Yes they will work. BUT, you have to tie them into switched, 12v power somewhere on the bike. The switched power will go to a relay, the other wires of the relay to the battery and the license plate light.

My thought is, if you're going to do that, might as well add a fuse box for other toys.

You can work off the accessory power that is just in front of the battery (in that case you won't have to relay, but they'll stay on for awhile after you shut the bike off), or use the headlight feed (which won't light off till the motor is started).

I have the 02040

I hacked my rear up and have had 3 units (all replaced under warranty). The last one has been on for several months now with no issues. The first 2 died with dead L E D's ,not all but at least half. No questions asked on the warranties . The latest one is a different manufacturer than the first 2. Absolutely no can bus issues.
