This website has disappeared. Any chance of emailing me a copy, specifically for the wiring near the rear mudguard & rear light cluster. I'm trying to wire in an Autocom unit, and am wondering where to get the (switched) feed from. Also what the flat unused 4-wire connector is on the frame just below where the pillion's left thigh wound be.

Thanks

Re: wiring diagram - some of the colours

I've now found out some of the colours of the wires on the K1200RS, and probably many others in the BMW range.

(first colour is main colour, second is the thin stripe colour)

Brown (thick-ish) - Earth
Grey/Black - Tail/back (red) light
Grey/Yellow - Brake light
Blue/Red - Left indicator/trafficator
Blue/Black - Right indicator/trafficator

In addition these were to what I believe is the alarm socket (under seat left-side about half way back)

Red - probably perminant live feed
Green - (live) probably something to do with ignition

So, based on the above, I wired my Autocom into the tail/back light feed so it's power is off when I leave the bike, but will only come on when the side lights, at least, are turned on. Tested it with by girlfriend last night and all works well. :)

If somebody feels they want to host them (10mb), PM me. They aren't the best to work through, but then neither is the BMW paper version until you get inside the head of the German who drafted it. It can be annoying when all you want to do is look up a wiring point. However, even with some mistakes the Clymer manual is still the best investment.

The best way to work with a wiring diagram is to have the whole lot on one big hi resolution pdf where you can zoom, pan, search for items (preferably in Englisch!) and print sections. One day somebody will apply satnav software techniques to wiring diagrams - you want to go from the battery to the starter and the relevant wire routes and cross point junctions will be highlighted for you on screen, complete with your favorit spoken voice. Wow, wouldn't it be nice to get this on a CD with your next Clymer manual?
