Hi Guys originally posted this in wrong area K1200RS it might make more sense here.
Have done various tests and have found i have around a 125 miliamp drain when the bike is turned off and key removed. The culprit appears to be the BCM module as the drain reduces to about 5 Milliamp when removed.Disconnect the battery can be left for weeks no problem Do these BCM units go to sleep like some ECUs do or does the ECU tell the BCM to turn on and off.The bike starts and run fine. Could anyone drop a clamp meter on there's and let me know what the current should be and wether it does goes to sleep.Information of this depth is beyond anything i can find in a manual. Im assuming the BCM is coded to ECU and Key so cant swap out for a known good unit for testing ?.
Thanks in anticipation

Have you done a load test to determine your battery capacity? 60 % of electrical problems are bad batteries.
If you do not have access to a load tester, buy a a volt meter
Key off voltage 12.5 volts
Key on 12.2 volts
Key on and starter running 10.5 volts or more
Any less your battery is no good.

Keeping a battery on a maintenance smart charger is SOP. but it hides sulfation and other battery problems like old age. Voltage looks good but no capacity to hold current flow.

Thanks for responses. The battery is new and has also been tested and is in excellent condition. I have found the issue mentioned in other forums of the ABS modules not going into hibernation. What i really needed is a current reference point from a K1200 that doesn't have this problem.Anyhow i removed the ABS plug and the BMI plugs. The bike starts and runs and upon switching off the ECU takes about 37 Ma then goes into hibernation around 5 Ma. I plugged the ABS in tried again and got the same result so not the ABS. The connectors on the BMI module were very dusty and tight so i applied some lubricant spray and reassembled. Started bike everything fine. Switched off bike drawing 82 Ma then dropped to 37 then to about 5 Ma so it's now cured i think it was a bad connection on the BMI ?
