They're here....

First thing I did was get them on the scale.

Rear is an amazing 6.875# on the baby scale. That's 4.87# less than the stock sport wheel. And almost 1.5# lighter than BST's carbon fiber wheel.

Front is 8.2#. 3.13# less than stock. 0.72# heavier than the BST's.

Total weight is 15.07#. 8# less than stock. 0.76# lighter than BST carbons. ~$1000 less expensive than BST's.

Here's a quick pic. Not very flattering lighting.

I hate you!
You sux!

Serrous, they look just ok on the baby scale. I would really like (read when you gonna?) to see the wheels on the bike. I think they will look stunning on the bike and that's a great weight savings as well as $1,000.00 in your pocket. You done good.

Stunning looking wheels JCW, the rotor carriers look like a piece of art   .
Also very impressive weight savings, please get them on asap and report back with how the bike feels with them on.
Great piece if sourcing on your part, bet the guys waiting(I'm assuming they haven't turned up) for BST's will be cancelling orders when they read this thread!!

It'll be a week or so before I get pics on the bike. (Debating whether to risk bringing it to a dealer to mount or getting a Nomar. Scratched magnesium is not a good thing. Oxidation or something.)

But thanks guys.

Anyone that wants a set, PM me. I've got the info.

$3300 shipped to the US.

Is the rear a 6" like a rear sport wheel?

Just curious to compare apples/apples.

Yeah. 6" rear and 3.5" front. 17" diameter.

Good news. A local ducati shop promises a scratch free tire change. $25 per wheel. Now where to get some corsa 3's for cheap and fast.

Nevermind, motorcycle-superstore was good enough.

My..... my.... that's goooorgeous...

... Now let me translate those figures into the 19th century... :wtf:

Rear is an amazing 3.12kg on the baby scale. That's 2.2kg less than the stock sport wheel. And almost 0.68kg lighter than BST's carbon fiber wheel.
Front is 3.72kg. 1.42kg less than stock. 0.32kg heavier than the BST's.
Total weight is 6.8kg. 3.63kg less than stock. 0.34kg lighter than BST carbons. ~$1000 = £78 = €69 less expensive than BST's.
And are your standard wheels standard or sport wheels?

Again... amazing... :teeth

My wheels are the standard ones.

But the numbers are what I found for the sport wheels. I think the standard wheels are slightly heavier. I have written down but not confirmed- Front-17(sounds awful heavy) and Rear-12.5#'s or 7.272 and 5.68 kg. :teeth

Can you read japanese? I have 3 pages of instructions in japanese. The only thing that is in english is K1200R ABS. and a picture of installation.

I'll scan and post.

I think i got the 1st set of BST in the uk from HPS ive had them fitted for about 5 weeks now and the bike now is something else to ride the way it flips from side to side is amazing and takes no effort in doing so and they look really special so im glad i waited as i was going to pull out due to waiting 10 months.

However i think (JCW) wheels look very trick and high quality as well

That's awesome Dave and nice to hear that they actually make a big difference. Post up please!

My thought is that weight reduction helps acceleration, braking and handling. And gives you the biggest bang for unfortunately alotta bucks.

I might still end up with BST's???? I'm sure with the carbon rim, you'll have a lower MOI despite being just a little heavier.

Can wait to mount and ride!

Did you weigh the wheels before you fitted them D4VE?
Post up some pictures mate, interested to see how the rear wheel looks once fitted.

Surely a bike of this pedigree is going to run cast iron disks...?! :wtf:

#22 ·
I tried asking brake tech if they were making an application for the KR. No luck.

Here's their ceramic matrix rotor

And their iron rotor

The closest I've found (and I haven't really been looking that hard) is sandbars low carbon discs

I didn't even know he had those. Might have to change during the winter. Put the OEM ones on the shelf and put them on if I sell the bike. :) Thanks for the info! :teeth

Thanks, mark.

Here's some photos I took today. Tires should be in next Wednesday. I think I'll just reuse the old braking hardware until I figure out what to reorder.

Just dial Earl's at Silverstone, UK and get them to send you a kit. If you can't/won't do that, do you want me to go there and get a set for you?
