I can't comment on the fuse issue, but if you don't have the Gerbing controller, I would highly recommend it. Otherwise you will cook unless it is extremely cold.

What was the size of the fuse that blew?

According to Gerbing's web site, their electric liner draws 6.4amp.(77watts)@12volts. I would use a 10amp. fuse and no higher. This is 150% of the full load current of the liner. If it blows a 10 amp. fuse I would question Gerbing directly, about it. There might be a fault in the liner wiring.

Yes it is. Try another fuse(10amp.) without the liner attached. If the fuse doesn't blow when turned on, the on/off switch is good. Plug the liner in and try again, if the fuse blows, take the liner back. It should work just fine with an on/off switch. A thermostat is a wonderful addition for comfort, but has nothing to do with the electrical integrity of the heated clothing. It has a lifetime warranty. DO NOT accept a repair. Get a new one.

Believe me, I had an aux. power receptacle failure which at that time was being used for my heated vest. This was at 4:00am. on I-10 east of Desert Center. Ca; while on my way to Phoenix. Any electric garment and it's wiring has to be bulletproof.

They wanted me to use a multi-meter and check for something or other. I didn't pack one on my trip, perhaps my bro has one, no telling. Anyways, I'll return it to the dealer in the morning and get a new one. That's what gerbing suggested.
