Mounting a Givi topbox on 02 KRS

Givi's website does not show a mounting kit for the KRS but I see pics where several of you are using them. I have a Givi topbox and a universal mounting plate that I currently use on my Concours. What do I need to mount the box on an 02 KRS? Looks like there will be one in my garage very soon :teeth Is the BMW luggage rack required?

The BMW rack wasn't required when I did mine, in fact it wouldn't take the load which is higher for the Givi rack and box. I've heard of bikes where they tried to use the BMW rack and the bolts just pulled out. Mine was their Monorack I think. Very substantial side supports which are bike specific. They come as a kit but aren't too expensive and integrate well with the BMW side case fixings. I put my side case fixings on after the Givi box.

The Givi instructions were a bit vague. I didn't think much of the paint finish on their brackets either. If I put another one on, I'd put more paint on before assembling - they go rusty quickly.

Thank you Coach for supplying this link. Perfect! Although the bike used had side cases, I don't think it matters whether they are there or not. The one I am buying does not have them and I don't think I will get them right away. I do want to mount my Givi box now and this is just what I needed.

Thanks again for the help.

Givi

I have this mount and I made one myself that bolts to the back of the seat for one-up riding. I wanted to get the weight in line with the wheel center. The Givi get heavy when they are packed and I hated all that weight hanging beyond the rear wheel. Not only that but the Uni-Go trailer hitch uses the Givi mounting system for the trunk :D

Very nice solution! Does it just strap to the seat?

Not to hijack this thread, but what mirrors are those on your bike?
The rack bolts to the back of the seat, inside near the striker. The straps you see towards the front of the rack just keep the rack from "bouncing" in the front. It works very well and I have several thousand miles without a problem.
The mirrors I bought from Cycle Gear and they are for a Honda 600Fi and were only $24.95 each.
