can't wait to start riding my new to me bike. Blue 1993 w/22K miles. The puny windscreen won't do. I want a big shield with protection. any suggestions? thanx.

On my '99 k75s (with the "C" bars for more upright position), I have a on-off screen made as a prototype by a fellow in Colorado who decided not to mass produce them. That said, it's very similar to the Parabellum screen and is a fairly dark smoked plastic. I like the screen a lot - very quiet behind it. I still wear the earplugs but it is noticably more quiet than my '99 R1100RS - also with a Parabellum screen.

Gustafsson Plastics here in Florida makes a few wind screens for the K75S , you just have to use a special drill bit and drill the holes. The prices are about half of what I've seen other windscreens. Here is the website:

Thanks for the link. I have been out of the loop so long I had forgotten about Gustafsson.
The +4 +2 just might work on my K75S w/C bars.

I was told that they were C bars...could be K100 bars I guess. The rise is about 4".
The lt. mirror stalk clears the screen by 1/2" at full lock and the rt. side almost touches the screen at full lock.
So with a taller/wider screen it would more than "just touch". :)

A thought: Older bikes that have possibly had fairing repair, it might not be such a bad idea to drill your own holes. Piecing together a fairing and ending up with stock hole location would be a minor miracle.

I am considering how to ride upright on my K75S. I could

1) Install more handlebar risers (I already have a 45 deg. set on the bike) but I think they would need to be around 3 inches (75mm) to enable me to sit upright. I would then need a custom screen to prevent my head from being blown off. Why would I do this? I've had my bike for 5 years and like it mechanically; I also like the airflow around the (small) lower section of the K75S fairing (I live in Australia and find BMW touring fairings too hot in our long summer). My main concerns are that having a couple of sets of risers bolted onto each other and then bolted onto the handlebars might be strucurally weak; also that an after market screen that is tall enough might be aerodynamically poor.

2) Sell my bike and buy a K75RT and remove the lower section of the fairing (at least for 6 months of the year). Of course, I would lose a bit on the purchase, and the bike would be unfamiliar mechanically & I'm not mechanically inclined so can't easily spot problems from a test ride & inspection.

Is option 1) feasible? has anyone done it?

Yours in triple-cylinder heaven!

You can always install C bars on your K75S.
Thanks for the info & URL!

In Australia, there were two types of C bars - a basic type similar to the naked K75/100 (to go with the small bikini fairing) and a tall type similar to RT bars, to go with a touring fairing (almost as big as an RT fairing) on a small number of K75Cs here.

Which type of C bars do you have in mind?

I would need the touring type of bars - so if the C bars in mind aren't tall enough, does anyone know of successful installations of RT bars on a K75S?

OK, OK, I'm a perfectionist. I do ride a K75S!

Yes, you can put RT/LT bars on a K75S. You will need RT choke and throttle cables as well as a brake line.

I local guy bought some parts from me and did it to his S.
Thanks for this confirmation. I imagine I'd need to keep my S mirrors as they are bar (not fairing) mounted and install them on the RT bars.
